About the Event
In this class, you will learn how to safely massage your prenatal clients. Many myths surround Prenatal Massage, and you will learn what is fact and what is fiction! You will learn how to properly position clients for each trimester (including the changes that occur during each trimester). Cautions and contraindications will be covered, including high risk pregnancies. You will learn what muscles and joints are affected during pregnancy and how to help each area using massage and stretches. Learn how to utilize an intake form for these clients so you can be sure you’re asking for the correct information. After this course, you will feel comfortable and confident massaging your prenatal clients! This class does not include a hands-on massage practicum. However, you will practice side-lying positioning and draping techniques while remaining clothed.Â
This class is for ANY massage therapist, not just for Spa therapists. However, it was designed with them in mind. For a more comprehensive course to include Postpartum, marketing strategies, and a hands-on massage practicum, we also offer a 16-credit course (J. Taylor Prenatal/Postpartum Workshop).
Please bring writing materials, 3 standard size bed pillows with pillowcases, and a set of twin sheets.
Jenn Taylor is a PA Licensed Massage Therapist and NCBTMB Approved Instructor (#1424) for Continuing Education. Jenn is also a Postpartum Doula, Reiki Master, Meditation Coach, Relationship/Life Coach and specializes in educating women about the importance of self-care, stress reduction and realizing their full potential.
