About the Event

Massage therapists treat clients on a daily basis who are taking various types of prescribed and non-prescribed drugs.  In many cases these medications affect body physiology in ways that make modifying massage treatment necessary, or, may contraindicate the massage treatment all together.  If there is a drug in a client’s body, the therapist has to have the basic information about the impact it may have on the client’s responses to the treatment about to be given.  Recognizing that drug therapy of any kind brings about physiologic and chemical changes in the body as well as that massage therapy also brings about these changes in the body, it is more than reasonable to explore these effects together.  The knowledge that the effects of drug therapy may enhance/increase or disrupt/decrease the effect of massage can and should lead to changes in how we apply massage therapy in individual situations.

Attend this lecture class and learn current and relevant info about the drugs your client is taking and the conditions relating to the medication.
